With a TiVo, I know one could, but it would be a pain. TiVo uses some version of Linux.
With the DirecTV DVR? Damfino. And it isn't really worth the hassle. There's nothing there I'm agonizing over; I'm just annoyed at the loss.
And there's no way to transfer all the settings, which is the biggest pain.
