AKICIF: Ripping DVDs for virtuous purposes
Suppose I'm going on a trip, and I have a four-hour plane flight. And suppose my DVD drive is external to my laptop, and I really don't want to schlep the DVD drive along (and besides, it requires a separate power source). And suppose I nevertheless want to watch a movie on my computer while I'm on the airplane.
Can anyone recommend some software that will take that movie from a commercial DVD and copy it to the hard drive of the computer so I can watch it on said plane flight?
I assume it's a technical violation of copyright, but I have no intention of keeping the ripped version -- it's just for temporary use, and then I'll delete it.
