This week was not a good week for remarkable athletes. Toller Cranston, the Canadian figure skater who transformed his field despite never being fully rewarded for his artistic innovation, and who was a remarkable artist as well, died of an apparent heart attack in his home in Mexico, at the age of 65. He was part of my childhood, and I adored him; I even got to interview him once.
