Some numbers of things (several medical) make a post

1. I have an appointment for my first COVID-19 vaccination! I'd been trying for over a week, ever since Minnesota opened things up to group 1b, tier 3, where I fell (over 45 with at least one qualifying condition). Lots of places were still only giving appointments to tier 2, and the ones open to tier 3 didn't have availability. I'm thankful to [personal profile] mizzlaurajean, who suggested signing up with Fairview. When I did, they were only giving appointments to tier 2, but that changed yesterday, and I now have an appointment for next Thursday, at a clinic a few miles away.

2. I made an appointment for my second and very overdue colonoscopy. The first one was mostly notable for being timed in such a way that I got no sleep the night before. This time, I hope, will go better in that regard.

3. Yesterday, I had the prep work done on a new dental crown. I spent the time listening to the audiobook of an Elizabeth Moon novel, and that was much more distracting than my usual attempt to follow an episode of a cooking or home improvement TV show. A+, will do again.

4. Still trying (obviously, not hard enough) to sell my 2001 Honda Accord.

5. A month or so ago, I went to IKEA for something entirely different, and came home with a set of Kallax shelves and cloth baskets, intending to use them to organize my spinning supplies. I even figured out a place for the unit in my living room. Unfortunately, I couldn't lift it myself -- I was barely able to drag it out of the car -- so I guess it's going to live in my garage until After Times.

6. All of my pandemic-related good intentions about destashing my house contents and organizing things have have mostly come to naught. If I had to pass an adulting test, there are sections where I would not get a passing grade. I am frustrated and depressed about this, none of which is actually inspiring me to action.

I think it's not that case that pandemic time is spare time, on the one hand -- there's a global spoon drain going on -- and on the other, not only is organization hard work, it relies on the specific sort of spoons that the pandemic tends to render most in want. ("I need to make a prompt focused decision, and then another one, and another one....")

So while I get the frustrated and depressed all too well, you might be being a tad harsh on yourself.

In a plague year. More fun to read Boccaccio, and look back in safety.

Yay vaccination appointment! You don't have to wait til fall after all!

I hear you about all the pandemic plans. My office is in a state of the most indescribable confusion, and I figured I'd just clear it out and straighten it up and organize it. Right. No. Everything I do makes it worse.

Yay appointment! Good news.

Yeah, I'm happy to keep up on necessary, ordinary tasks, such as laundry. Everything else is gravy. It's a pandemic!!! The stress really takes it out of everyone, and each of us in different ways.

With all that medical catchup you are doing, don't make the mistake Thorin did. He actually got an appointment for a vaccine (for reasons that aren't relevant to this story). When he showed up for the shot they refused to give it to him because he had gotten a TDAP shot the week before. And even though the CDC guidelines do not say that that this is a valid reason for refusing to vaccinate, the state of Minnesota has decided that it is.

open Ikea box in garage, move contents a few pieces at a time? (had a similar problem once, with assemble it yourself furniture that weighed more than I did--I had to open the box in the car (store people loaded it for me) and take the pieces out..)

I got my first Pfizer shot today, and I totally hear you about the best-laid plans for productive use of pandemic time coming to naught. I managed to move into my new abode in July last year, somehow, then lost the housemate who had been planning to pay half the rent a few months later, and at some point I just stopped unpacking. There are still a lot of unpacked boxes lying around which my best-laid plans had me all winnowing through and reducing, but that never has happened yet.
