I just fell down the stairs.
I'd put a load of laundry into the washer and was heading back upstairs when I passed Pyewacket heading down the stairs. I keep the basement door closed normally for the express purpose of keeping cats out of the basement, so I grabbed at her to keep her upstairs.
Somehow I missed, and the next thing I know I was falling down the stairs, literally arse over teakettle. I fell backwards, and I'm pretty sure I did a full somersault. All I could think of as I was falling was, "Please, I don't want to make that stupid commercial come true."
After I landed, I yelled a few times (scaring the cat no end, but I hurt), and then started crying, probably from adrenaline overload. I realized almost immediately that I'd been inordinately lucky and escaped just about unscathed. I bruised my ribs, shoulder, and wrist on the left side, and scraped my right hip quite substantially, but nothing is really injured.
I'm not sure if I'll be up for running the prescribed half-hour tomorrow morning, but I can certainly walk the distance.
Whew.
