Catching up

I've posted every week, so it doesn't look like I'm all that far behind, but the weekly updates are all about my progress on the Atkins diet and are set to Private.

(Does anybody actually have any interest in seeing those posts? I've posted my shameful weight numbers to alt.support.diet.low-carb under my real name, so it's no longer a secret for anyone with access to DejaGoogle, but it feels awfully personal to be burdening other people with.)

As for what else, well. My ribs are mostly healed. They don't hurt at all except when I have a violent coughing fit, and then it's just slight twinges. My left knee is healing much more slowly than I would have liked, but I do seem to be making progress with it.

I started going over to Pat's three times a week (M-W-F) to use her elliptical machine, in addition to running with her three times a week. (The elliptical thing is not at all social; I ring the doorbell at 7:30 am or so, she answers, I go downstairs and work out, and let myself out when I'm done.)

I went shopping for wallpaper on Saturday and came home with a few samples. I think I've picked out the one I'm going to buy. To Lydy's great surprise and shock, no doubt, it's mainly teal-colored.

I finished scraping the wallpaper paste off the second wall of the office. I want to have all four walls finished this weekend.

Stephanie the home organizer came over and spent an hour with me. She gave me some useful suggestions for the layout of the library and what to do with my linen closet. Everything else is going to have to wait on finishing the office and bedroom, I think.

The Cubs are playing .600 ball and are tied for first in their division -- but it's only May, and early May at that. But, as every year, I live in hope (not to be confused with New Hope).

And it's a gorgeous spring. I hope it lasts another week or two. I've been watching my hostas poke their heads out of the dead leaves, and they're now several inches tall. I have one little bit of area that's suitable for a garden, and I'm dithering between planting marigolds or moss roses, or buying one of those containers of perennial seeds and seeing what survives.
