But the ants keep appearing out of nowhere nevertheless. I mean, I'll see an ant in the sink and I wash it down the drain and there's another on the counter and I carefully pick it up and take it outside and then there's three more hiding under the plug. There's no end to it. But I can't see where they're coming from, and I can't watch all the time just to make sure they don't teleport in while I'm watching. I'm sure that's one of the rules.

And it's not as if my kitchen were messy or dirty or anything. It's the one really ordered place in the house. Even my mother would find it up to her standards. I put the used dishes promptly in the dishwasher, except for the ones I need frequently and those I hand wash right away. My counters are wiped, and there's no stray food sitting around except for the dry catfood.

I suppose I could try strewing mint around and reciting the verse quoted in Tam Lin, but if I can find out where they're coming into the house, the entry point is going to get dosed with a good dollop of Raid.

Is this ant season or something?

Is there some overall way to find out which TV shows have been cancelled and which ones renewed? I suppose I could always ask [livejournal.com profile] laurel, but it seems unfair to bug her. I just saw a preview for Las Vegas that implied Josh Duhamel (Danny) was leaving the show, with the character called back to active duty. Actually, since it said "last farewell," it did more than imply. I'm not sure the show could survive without Josh Duhamel, so I'm wondering if they know they're being cancelled, or if he is indeed leaving and the show's going on. Or, of course, if it's all some fakeout.

I didn't find out about Century City being cancelled until I realized I hadn't seen it for a few weeks. I was just getting into the swing of the show. Four episodes is too damn soon to cancel a show.

And what about Without a Trace? The lead character just agreed to move to another city to follow his wife who just got a big promotion. Is this the end of that show, or is it going to lose Anthony LaPaglia and go on? Or is it just a fake-out? If this were the 1970s, the wife would be killed (ideally by someone with a grudge against LaPaglia's character) and the grieving husband would have no reason to leave, but I would be outraged if they went for that pat a solution.
