Preparing for my Jeopardy! tryout
Jun. 5th, 2006 04:42 pmA couple of months ago, the TV show Jeopardy! had online tryouts. It was a specific time depending on your time zone, and there were something like 50 questions. You had 15 seconds maximum for each question. I passed, and tomorrow I get to do a full audition. This will consist of playing a "mock version" of the game ("to assess your game-playing skills"), a short personality interview, and a new 50-question test.
If I pass this, I go in the contestant pool for one year -- which is no guarantee that I'll actually get chosen as a contestant. But this is the closest I've ever come to a chance to be on the one game show that really interests me.
I haven't done any practicing. If I actually get a chance to be on the show, I'll have to review state capitals and geography in general, since they're something I'm weak on.
Right now I'm dithering about what to wear. My current plan is to wear one of the new three-quarter sleeve T-shirts I got a few weeks ago with black slacks -- they're nice-looking without being dressy. But maybe I should wear the black short-sleeve top with the gold elephants? Or maybe I should haul out one of my suits that I haven't worn since I started working at home?
Of course, if I can't answer the questions, none of this matters.
