AKICIF: Turntable still acting up
Jul. 26th, 2007 12:41 pmWell, I took my turntable to the Needle Doctor (thanks, Tony) and got a new cartridge and a proper grounding wire.
And that seemed to fix the problem for a bit, but now it's back, or there were actually two problems. Before, the right channel was dropping out almost entirely, with a lot of fuzzy sound in addition. Now it's just as if the right channel (intermittently, of course) keeps losing some of its sound and then coming back.
It's rather like when you have a cold and you can't hear correctly, and then your ear pops, and all of a sudden the world comes in properly again.
I took the turntable back to the Needle Doctor the next day, and was told that there wasn't anything else they could do with it. I tried changing the connector wires to the tuner, and that didn't help.
Any more ideas? Or failing that, does anyone local have a decent turntable to lend me? I'd only need it for a couple of weeks, I think -- only two and a half boxes left.
