Happy Halloween
Oct. 31st, 2008 09:51 pmI just turned the lights off. I had around 50 trick-or-treaters. The first one showed up around 5:15 -- two parents with an adorable child in their arms dressed as a Mickey Mouse. The parents introduced themselves as across-the-street neighbors. When I first moved in five years ago, most of the people in my block were seniors, but there's been a lot of turnover, and the neighborhood seems to be younger now.
That's probably why there's been a steady increase in the number of trick-or-treaters I've seen over the years. Last year I used up the two bags of candy I'd bought, plus ten hastily made packets of M&Ms from plastic bags and twist-ties. This year, I bought four bags of candy. Three would have been enough, as it turned out, but just barely. I have four Kit-Kat mini-bars and a bag of Milky Way mini-bars left. I'll try to remember to bring them to the Minn-stf meeting tomorrow.
