Things are looking up
Oct. 29th, 2010 04:13 pm1. I'm still coughing, but not continuously. Last night, I skipped the dose of codeine-laced cough syrup, and slept through the night. Better still, I don't feel sick anymore, mostly. It's amazing what a difference that can make.
2. My sense of smell is coming back, slowly. I hadn't been worrying about that until a) Pat WINOLJ told me about a friend who permanently lost her sense of smell post-flu and b) my mother said that my father recently lost his sense of smell, possibly related to use of zinc lozenges, and it looks to be permanent. Then I worried. (Jelly Belly jelly beans are a lot less enjoyable if you can't smell them, I discovered.)
2. I downloaded and installed FileZilla, and it did exactly what I needed -- let me transfer a couple of files to the host website -- without any fuss or ditzing with command line code. My thanks to everyone who suggested various options.
3. I survived Conjecture (the local fallcon I chaired, while sick, and without my MIA assistant), thanks to some great work on the part of the people who did show up. The attendees, though fewer than ideal, seem to have had a good time. I volunteered to chair it again, even.
