Office!

After two years in my current house, I've finally moved my place of work (I work at home) from the temporary setup in the living room to the actual room set aside to be the office.

This involved many steps that I couldn't do myself:

1. Removing the old yucky carpet (here as well as in the dining room and hall) and sanding and refinishing the floor.

2. Removing the old yucky wallpaper and repainting the walls.

3. Assembling the large desk unit that I got from Freecycle in a million individual pieces (with much help from Pat, Lydy, and DD-B).

4. Installing a phone jack (thanks to Greg C.).

5. Getting someone (David Schroth) to move the 21-inch monitor and HP 4050 printer.

Plus a fair amount of shlepping on my part, of course.

It's still a work in progress, but I moved the computer stuff and phone, and set up the stereo that I bought at a garage sale for $10. (Disappointingly, the tape player seems to be broken, but it has a 3-CD changer that works fine.) I bought a cheapie rug at Ikea to go in the room, but until I can get four strong people (at a minimum) to lift up the desk unit, the room will stay unrugged.

Conga rats! It's fun to make transformations of one's space.
