My favorite alcohol song is The Intoxicated Rat (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/watson-doc/intoxicated-rat-1489.html). I learned it off one of my dad's 78s: the Dixon Brothers did it, I think. Best line: "The cat jumped over and the rat got sober, said I'll never get drunk again."

My CDs are burned, but I haven't printed inserts yet. I would like to trade with you when I get mine done.

I slid past this when you mentioned it before, or I'd have suggested at least one drinking song from the world of opera. They loved their drinking songs. One section of "Das Lied von der Erde" is a drinking song too, but probably kind of long.

I am at Capricon, not attending Minn-stf, but will trade my CD for yours if you wish. I would not have said, reference to a cup notwithstanding, that "Ripple" is a drinking song.

I'm pretty sure the song isn't about Ripple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ripple_(wine)).

I'd like to trade when I get mine done as well, though at this rate mine may take a while (lots of music still in storage, new computer, etc).

Thanks! It's not often that I get two different mix CDs with "To Anacreon In Heaven" -- in fact, it's never happened before -- but you and [livejournal.com profile] calimac share responsibility.

Will listen to the rest soon.
