The cats are testing me

And I think I'm failing.
Tonight, they have:
a. Extracted a ball of yarn from a closed drawer, and while I was out, tangled it completely with all my computer cords to the point where the Gordian solution was needed.
b. Once deprived of the yarn, played with the computer cords themselves, knocking over the phone, pulling out the DSL router power cord, and (most annoying) dislodging something that caused a terrible hum in the speakers and took several teeth-aching minutes to discover that it was the speaker plug at the computer.
c. Peed in the bathtub. (Yes, it's easy to clean up, but it's still gross.)
d. Jumped on the desk innumerable times, generally knocking stuff over in the process.
e. Caught at my wrist at just the wrong angle, breaking the watchband of my everyday but good watch (a gift from my father) in a way that I'm not sure is repairable.
I'm not sure it'd work to make the office a cat-free zone, given that I spend most of my day there, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's any sort of solution.

Date: 2009-07-16 06:45 pm (UTC)1) Quit soaking them in catnip solution :)
2) Buy some velcro cable wraps from Home Depot or Menards and get them into as neat a bunch as possible-they won't like to play with one big cable as much as a bunch of small ones
Good luck-

Date: 2009-07-16 09:17 pm (UTC)But if Toliman is coming to live here, I suppose I ought to let them in the basement so that if the three cats get along, they don't have to be segregated into upstairs and downstairs cats. Which I assume is at least part of your motivation. :-)
Right now, they're both asleep in the office -- Random in the spot where the wireless router used to be, and Morwen on top of the bookshelf nestled in a box of envelopes, from which I can see the top of one black ear sticking out.
