The new router arrived (with built-in wireless capability, which means my previous wireless router has now become surplus), and after a quick call to Visi.com to configure it, I'm up and running at full speed again.

I'd probably keep the old wireless router, were I you. The router we got from Qwest also has a built-in wireless capability, which turns out is frustratingly less capable than the old wireless router we got rid of when we got the router with built-in wireless...

What's the model of the new one? We got a Q1000.

It has some quirks and occasionally needs to be rebooted, but the built in wireless is far more powerful and consistent than any of the wireless devices I'd tried previously.

I wouldn't say no if it was offered to me.

My experience is that signal strength on the first and third floors is spotty - sometimes it's good, sometimes it just goes away. Since multiple laptops have experienced this, I assume it's an issue with the wireless router rather than [livejournal.com profile] mizzlaurajean's laptop.

Additionally, [livejournal.com profile] mizzlaurajean is unhappy with the router because it requires rebooting much more frequently than the old wireless router did.
