1. Farthing Party was great, though the hotel was not a wonderful match for us. I slept well despite the noise, which rather surprised me. I attended bunches of panels, ate too much, and made decent progress on both my knitted sock and the drop spindle spinning project.

2. This is the third or fourth convention this year where I have come home with the convention crud. I think I need to do something about my immune system.

3. Once home, I had a few bad minutes where I thought I'd lost my passport, which I need again in just a few weeks. Thankfully, I hadn't. It was exactly where it belonged, despite my having no recollection of having put it there.

4. The Hennepin County library system now lets you check out books via Kindle. This works better if you have a specific book in mind -- the search function works just fine, but otherwise I'd have to scroll through 3K or so SF and fantasy novels to see what they have.

5. My cats are annoyed at me for abandoning them for the weekend, but they're not actually doing the "there is no human here" thing. And they'll probably relent and come sleep on the bed with me. Which I think I will repair to right now.

If you can spare roughly $40 per month in service of doing something wonderful for your immune system, I *strongly* recommend a supplement called Juice Plus+. It is, regrettably, sold via multilevel marketing, but the product itself is so good that I don't care. (Plus my pusher is a good friend.)

It is, in essence, fresh, ripe, organically grown fruits and vegetables, reduced to powder and put into capsules (or into very tasty gummies, which is my preferred form factor). A normal adult dose is the equivalent of eating eight servings of fruits and vegetables, and since I've been using them, I get sick less than half as often as I used to. And when I do, it doesn't tend to get as bad or last as long.

You can look it up online and do some research, and if you're interested and don't happen to know someone in your area who sells it, drop me a line and I'll hook you up with my pusher.

It really is good stuff. I am so completely sold on it that I've even thought about becoming a distributor myself.

The other thing I use that seems to work surprisingly well is something called Quantum Nucleotide Complex, which I get from my acupuncture doc. Apparently these nucleotides eat the protein shells of viruses. If I knock back a bunch of them, like 8 capsules' worth, when I'm just at the very beginning of feeling unwell, I usually don't get sick. (Now, it's pretty unscientific -- I don't *know* that I would have gotten sick in any case, but I am persuaded enough about them that I continue to use them.) Not sure how to suggest you get some other than to put you in contact with my acupuncturist, who might be able to point you to a practitioner near you.
