What I did not need right now
Oct. 20th, 2011 03:35 pmI went downstairs to move some clothes from the washer to the drier and stepped into a puddle. And I knew what was going on, from bitter experience. I'd had the sewer line cleaned out earlier this year, I thought, but the sewer line doesn't think so.
So the sorted clothes on the floor that were waiting to get washed are soggy. And the shower in the downstairs bathroom has backed up (as it does under these circumstances), but only slightly.
And I need to henna my hair tonight because it needs to be done before I leave at oh-dark-thirty on Saturday. (Really. The plane leaves at 6:15 a.m., and I need to be there considerably earlier, with cat.) But I can't do that with a backed-up system.
And I really wanted to wash my chino pants, but now I can't.
Honestly, this wouldn't be such a deal except for the leaving-Saturday thing. I've coped with sewer backups before, and this one is minor, as such things go. But the timing sucks.
(I splashed through the shallow puddles to get the clothing from the washer, and it's now strewn around the dining room, because running the drier while it's standing in water just didn't seem like a smart idea.)
I've called Ron the Sewer Rat, and maybe one of his minions will be able to come out tonight. I can hope.
