carbonelHere's my first batch of recs, in 20 different fandoms. The summaries are a mixed bag in terms of source: in some cases, I used the author's words, in some my own, and some are a combination. No author's names yet, because those don't get revealed until New Year's.

If Susanna Clarke were writing about the American Revolution instead of writing about Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, this is the sort of thing that might result. This is a fascinating story, and I hope it gets expanded to novel-length someday.

There's a mystery to be solved, a voyage to be taken, and perhaps even a shot at something resembling a happy ending.
