Dr. McMenomy called to say Morwen is out of surgery and waking up. Apparently it was indeed her fiber-eating habits that did her in -- she had a whole felted chunk that had made it past the small intestine and cecum, and come to rest in the large intestine, whence it tried to take up permanent residence.

If all goes well, I'll be able to take her home Saturday morning.

I'm not sure what this bodes for the future. Cat-proofing my house of fiber in all its forms would be really, really hard. I wonder if regular doses of Petromalt might be helpful.

Glad the surgery went well

the petromalt or femalt or whatever the cat likes should be a consistent 'treat' because it does help things move out. I had a cat get really 'stuck' with hairballs, and once I went to regularly dosing her, the issues eased quite a bit. then again I had one cat that ate a whole tube of it (remember the 'tin;' tubes for things? They slit with a cat tooth....). She was one slick cat for a while.

I do not know if it is possible to cat proof a house from a fiber eater... because aside from the crafts, there are hats, scarves, etc. that they may try to get to.
