Purim is coming the goose is getting fat, and I'd like to do something about it. Purim is one of the minor Jewish holidays, one of the many that's characterized by the description (from JoelR, IIRC) "We didn't die, let's eat!" (More information here: http://www.search.com/reference/Book_of_Esther)

It's traditional on Purim to distribute "shalach manot," gifts of food, particularly baked goods, most particularly hamantaschen, which are filled three-cornered pastries intended to be reminiscent of Haman's three-cornered hat -- Haman being the villain of the piece.

I'd like to do this, but I'm dubious about trying to reach everyone. So -- instead of doing that, I'm going to stay home and distribute shalach manot to anyone who comes by. I'll be "at home" from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, March 12 (this coming Sunday). Erev Purim (the evening of the day before Purim) is actually on March 13, and Purim on March 14, but a little anticipation seems reasonable.

I hope people reading this will stop by, hang out a bit, and collect some baked goods. I'm not sure what all I'll be making, except that chocolate and ginger will probably be involved in some measure.

RSVPs would be nice (just so I can get some idea of how much to bake), but aren't required.

My address is 6915 10th Ave. S., in Richfield, Minnesota, phone number 612/861-1468.
