Whee! (Purim preparation update)
Mar. 10th, 2006 11:00 pmMy house is clean. No, let's try that again. My house is clean! That's better.
Early this week I realized that if I was[1] having people inside my house on Sunday, I needed to get it a lot cleaner and neater than it was. However, most of my spare time was allocated for baking. Luckily, I was able to turn a problem into an expense by calling Cottage Care. Two wonderful women showed up today and strewed cleanliness behind them. The place is still cluttered (I keep working on that), but it's now much neater and considerably cleaner than it was. I plan to have them come over once a month.
On the baking front, I have made treble ginger cookies, chocolate chip brownies, apricot hamantaschen, and oatmeal raisin cookies. I'd planned to make Toll House cookies, but the hamantaschen recipe left me with four surplus egg whites, so I may turn those into chocolate chip meringues instead. Next on the schedule is Grasmere gingerbread. The only problem is, I've run out of containers to put the baked goods in. I've used up all my tins, and all my decent-sized food storage containers. I guess the next batch will go in Ziploc bags; I've still got plenty of those.
[1]Pamela, am I correct in assuming that since I'm talking about a situation that's not contrary to fact, the subjunctive mood isn't appropriate here?
