The triumph of habit over laziness
Jul. 22nd, 2009 11:08 amI really didn't feel like going out and exercising this morning. It would have been easy to stretch out the checking-the-e-mail routine that goes before exercising long enough that I didn't have time to go to the gym before I had to go to work.
But I exercise every day except Sunday, and the inertia of habit got me out of the office chair, into the car, and over to the gym. And once I was done, I was glad I had done it, of course. I don't like exercising, but I like having exercised.
It's just like the Peter S. Beagle song:
"Ah, sloth may be strong,
But a habit is stronger..."
