NCIS -- Hiatus

Okay, Gibbs' resignation caught me off-guard big-time. I mean, it was foreshadowed and all with whatsisname in Mexico, but not until this episode.
I hate this sort of thing. I always wonder if it's real or if it's a fake-out (the way Danny being called up to the Marines at the end of season 1 of Las Vegas and Jack Malone moving to Chicago at the end of season 2 of Without a Trace were). I don't know if it's the end of the show and they're finishing with a thud, or if they're really going to carry on without Gibbs (a huge mistake, IMO, but I've loved Mark Harmon as an actor since he was on St. Elsewhere).
And the CBS upfronts aren't out until tomorrow, so I don't even know whether it's been renewed for next year.
Grump.
