Dear self:

As the final stage in making breakfast, the espresso gets poured into the steamed milk and the Grape-Nuts get sprinkled over the yogurt. Not the other way around. The taste of neither one is improved thereby.

Steamed milk on Grapenuts sounds pleasant. But somehow I bet that isn't how it went.:)

I put strawberry syrup in my coffee instead of chestnut syrup on our first day back this time. It wasn't a good thing to do.

And chestnut syrup is? I'm not doubting you, just curious.

(I have a pound of maple sugar from my recent trip to Canada, and I'm contemplating putting some of it in my coffee.)

I can't figure out how I could derive a need to be persuaded that I am being doubted by being asked what chestnut syrup is.

As for what chestnut syrup is, it's exactly what it sounds like. It's like strawberry syrup, only with chestnuts. Sorry, I was unclear. I meant "And chestnut syrup is a good thing to put in coffee?"

I've seen chestnuts in syrup, even if I've never seen the chestnut syrup alone. I was just surprised that it would be a coffee additive.

I poured it in coffee and I liked it, so it is to me. But, like everything relating to taste, it will depend on one's own preferences.

In fact, I think that's one of the serving suggestions on the Grape-Nuts package. But no, I'm talking about a half-tablespoon of Grape-Nuts added to the yogurt for crunch. It would be lost in the cup of milk for the latte.
