Last night I...hmm, what is the right word? "Cooked" is wrong, and "assembled" sounds odd, and "stirred up" is too casual. In any case, I made the dough for the cookies last night, but it was too warm in the house for baking. When the thermometer hit 81 degrees F, I turned on the air conditioner.
This afternoon, I rolled out the cookies and baked them. This is my second attempt at playing with the recipe; the version from the website (bottom one on this page: http://byfaithonly.com/Recipes/OatmealCookie.html) makes a very sticky dough and has to come out of the oven at the exact right moment or it burns or is underdone. On
judith_dascoyne's recommendation, I tried adding an extra quarter-cup of flour to the recipe. It seems to have done the trick -- the dough is easier to roll out, and I haven't had a burnt batch since.
Most of these will be going to Wiscon for the bake sale, but I'll keep a few for me.
Tea party, anyone?

Date: 2006-05-25 08:57 pm (UTC)Even now that I have a KitchenAid, baking feels more planned-out for me. I'm not in the habit of doing it.
