Warm oatmeal chocolate chip raisin cookies

Last night I...hmm, what is the right word? "Cooked" is wrong, and "assembled" sounds odd, and "stirred up" is too casual. In any case, I made the dough for the cookies last night, but it was too warm in the house for baking. When the thermometer hit 81 degrees F, I turned on the air conditioner.

This afternoon, I rolled out the cookies and baked them. This is my second attempt at playing with the recipe; the version from the website (bottom one on this page: http://byfaithonly.com/Recipes/OatmealCookie.html) makes a very sticky dough and has to come out of the oven at the exact right moment or it burns or is underdone. On judith_dascoyne's recommendation, I tried adding an extra quarter-cup of flour to the recipe. It seems to have done the trick -- the dough is easier to roll out, and I haven't had a burnt batch since.

Most of these will be going to Wiscon for the bake sale, but I'll keep a few for me.

Tea party, anyone?

I'm confused about why "stirred up" is too casual. Were you wearing a tiara?

Not "casual" as in dressed up, but as in too offhand. "Oh, I just stirred up a few batches of cookies for the bake sale."

Even now that I have a KitchenAid, baking feels more planned-out for me. I'm not in the habit of doing it.

Ah. Baking is not any kind of an event here. It's just something that happens from time to time.

Like today or tomorrow, ideally. Sigh.
